- Software company’s ‘Mission Transition’ sets new industry benchmark for entech with science-based targets across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
- Platform empowers energy companies to transform for the energy transition by increasing operational efficiencies and enabling new low-carbon propositions to be delivered at speed
- Pledges to bring all energy customers along by enabling energy companies to increase engagement and tailor propositions that reduce the cost of owning electric vehicles (EVs), heat pumps and other smart devices
London – Kaluza today announces the launch of ‘Mission Transition’, its sustainability pledge that commits the pioneering software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform to become carbon negative by 2030 and drive decarbonisation for energy companies.
Mission Transition sets out Kaluza’s goal to make decarbonisation affordable for energy companies and their customers – turning them into the drivers of the energy transition.
Today, in its first phase, Mission Transition centres around two key commitments:
- Leading by example and becoming a carbon negative company by 2030
- Building the platform that energy companies need to digitally transform and accelerate net-zero for everyone
Kaluza joins leading companies such as Microsoft and IKEA in its carbon negativity pledge – requiring the business to remove more carbon emissions from the atmosphere than it emits. By June 2022, Kaluza will submit its absolute reduction targets across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTI) and publish the second phase of Mission Transition, including its roadmap to carbon negative. A key area of focus will be sustainable software development in order to reduce the platform’s cloud usage and curb its emissions.
The second commitment hinges on Kaluza’s ability to provide energy companies with the agility, speed, and operational efficiency to drive positive change towards net zero. Kaluza’s energy retail product has already proven to slash energy companies’ technology costs by as much as 50%. With these savings, and the agility provided by Kaluza to innovate new products faster, energy companies are able to launch new low-carbon propositions in days rather than months, and accelerate the energy transition.
The platform’s intelligent grid technology, Kaluza Flex, will play a key role in lowering EV ownership costs and enabling energy companies to develop market-leading services that lower energy bills and carbon for their customers.
Scott Neuman, CEO at Kaluza commented:
“The climate crisis requires nothing short of a revolution in how we produce, manage, and use energy. The time is now for energy companies to seize the opportunities afforded by the energy transition and to lead by innovating the carbon-busting products and services that shape our future.
We need businesses who can afford to decarbonise faster to do so, and that’s why we are proud to stand by the commitments Kaluza has made today in Mission Transition. The strategy reflects the determination of our people and strength of our technology to drive positive change, and we look forward to delivering on it in the years to come.”

The second phase of the strategy is due to be published next year and will outline the steps to achieving the two commitments.
