London – Kaluza, the software platform powering the future of energy, today announces winning the ‘Most Innovative AI Solution’ category at Computing’s AI & Machine Learning Awards 2022.
The panel of experts adjudicating the awards assessed a range of AI solutions developed to bring new, innovative experiences to users. The judges were impressed by Kaluza’s vehicle-to-grid (V2G) smart charging solution, which enables drivers to sell surplus renewable energy from their electric cars back to the grid when it needs it.
Through the world-leading trial with partners including OVO Energy and Nissan, over 3 million free miles have been made available to OVO customers who exported energy back to the grid during peak times. The project has also shown that V2G has the potential to save £3.5bn per year on grid infrastructure reinforcement, and that customers can earn from £450 to as much as £800 per year without needing to do anything except keep their cars plugged in when they are not in use.
Robin Abraham, Head of Product at Kaluza, commented:
“Kaluza has developed the key that can unlock the huge potential of electric vehicles as part of a decarbonised energy system. This much-needed technology has the power to reduce energy costs – both for energy suppliers and end customers – while boosting system resilience.
This award is testimony to the exciting future of V2G powered by intelligent software. We look forward to scaling this innovation, alongside our other EV flexibility solutions, to maximise its benefits for energy systems and millions of drivers globally.”
