Energy software business, Kaluza, today announces that it has been awarded ‘Vehicle Telematics Innovation of the Year’ by the AutoTech Breakthrough Awards. This year’s program evaluated more than 1,600 nominations from over 15 different countries and recognised the top companies, technologies and products in the global automotive and transportation technology markets today.
Kaluza was recognised for its leading direct-to-car smart charging technology. The software platform directly connects with electric vehicles (EVs) via telematics, removing the need for customers to invest in separate smart charging hardware. Through an app, customers can tell the platform when they would like their cars to be ready to drive by and Kaluza optimises the charging to ensure they use the cheapest and greenest energy.
Kaluza’s cloud-native platform has become an industry leader. It intelligently manages the charging of EVs by analysing real-time market signals -such as grid supply, weather and pricing data – and charging cars when prices and carbon levels are low. This technology allows EV drivers to charge their vehicles at a lower rate and has been used to power pioneering propositions including OVO Charge Anytime, a scheme enabling UK drivers to charge on a cheap, flat rate and save £350 a year on their energy bills.
Kaluza’s telematics-based smart charging is being used for services with automaker partners including Porsche in the UK, Mitsubishi Motors in Japan, and energy retailers AGL Energy in Australia, Meridian in New Zealand and OVO in the UK.
