London – 11th October, 2024 – Energy software business, Kaluza, today announces that it has been awarded ‘Vehicle Telematics Innovation of the Year’ by the AutoTech Breakthrough Awards for the second year in a row.
Kaluza provides automakers and energy retailers with innovative software solutions that enable simple and rewarding electric vehicle (EV) charging experiences for customers. Kaluza’s world-leading optimisation engine directly connects with EVs via telematics, removing the need for separate smart charging hardware.
Kaluza intelligently manages the charging of EVs by analysing real-time market signals (such as grid supply, weather and pricing data), and charging cars when prices and carbon levels are low. At scale, this enables cars to be used as giant ‘smart batteries’, enabling vehicles to absorb cheap wind and solar energy when it’s in abundance resulting in lower energy bills and a more resilient, decarbonised energy system.
Kaluza’s telematics-based smart charging is being used for services with automaker partners including Porsche in the UK, Mitsubishi Motors in Japan, and energy retailers AGL Energy in Australia, Meridian in New Zealand and OVO in the UK.
The award win follows the official launch of Japan’s first direct-to-vehicle smart charging service, powered by Kaluza and in partnership with Mitsubishi Motors and MC Retail Energy. This is Kaluza’s latest EV charging program to launch globally, building on the success of Charge Anytime in the UK which has saved customers over £10 million and nearly 600 tonnes of CO2, showcasing the incredible impact smart charging services can have on people and the planet when an energy retailer and software provider work together.
